Okay, so I was never a big renaissance faire kind of guy. But it looked like fun. There were kings and queens, cool craft booths, and real live jousting! Karen too Gracie to go meet our friends, the Lary family, and here are the pics. They sure do make awfully cute princesses, don’t they?

So, we traveled to Los Angeles for my birthday to see our first professional soccer game. Sure, it isn’t the English Premiere League, but it was still pretty cool. The L.A. Galaxy played the Houston Dynamo. Okay, so the home team lost 3-1, but our seats were great, the Home Depot Center is a great facility, and everyone had a great time.
Hopefully, we’ll be able to make it back for another Galaxy game sometime. I really enjoyed it. Soccer is a lot more action packed, and fun to watch than baseball. I just wish they had better food…

Gracie and Joey began their AYSO soccer season this past Saturday. This year, I’ll be coaching Gracie’s U8 Girls team. They only play five on five at that level, with no goalkeepers, so it’s a lot of fun to watch. Gracie’s team name is The Heartbreakers, which is appropriate, as you’ll see how adorable they are… They don’t even keep score – they play so that the girls can learn the game, and get more time on the ball. Still, they did very well. Gracie scored at least two goals, and all of the girls played very well together.
Joey is playing his fifth or sixth year in AYSO (I forget!), and his first year after playing club soccer last spring. Wow, what a difference that made. He and Chris doubled up to score two goals each. Iriel scored one, Connor scored one, and Alberto scored one, too. They played really well, and Joey was rockin’ the offense. Their team name is Chivas (as in Chivas, the professional Mexican league team – his coach is a huge fan, apparently), and I think they’re going to do very well this year.
Cheers,
